ABOUT SAURAMANDALA FOUNDATION - CFAD

Sauramandala Foundation is an NGO founded in 2018 with a vision to bring about systemic change in the lives of remote communities through empathetic, collaborative, and contextual solutions that are co-created with the communities themselves.


About the Project (CM Youth Center)

The Government of Meghalaya, in partnership with Sauramandala Foundation (www.sauramandala.org), has established 22 rural community centres for youth, called the Chief Minister's Youth Centers (CMYC) with an aim to build resilience, agency, and problem-solving skills in the community.

The key programmes in the CMYCs are: Self Designed Learning, Entrepreneurship Development, Sports Coaching, Arts and Theatre, Community Library Programme

The learning is open to all ages to have more involvement from the community. The CMYCs are set to expand from 22 centers to cover all 55 blocks of Meghalaya over a 2 year period.


Key Responsibilities


Objective of the Engagement

To develop and operationalize well-resourced CMYCs that:

  • Strengthen the overall capacity of both the program team and field staff at the Youth Centres. Responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive learning and development programs across the centres

  • Adopt a strategic approach to identifying training needs, developing engaging and culturally relevant content, and ensuring effective delivery through in-person workshops, e-learning platforms, and virtual classrooms

  • Undertake extensive travel across Youth Centres in Meghalaya to engage with  on-ground teams, assess training needs, and design and facilitate programs that enhance staff competencies in areas such as youth development, program design, and facilitation techniques

2. Scope of Work


A. Training Needs Assessment

  • Lead project-wide training needs assessments to identify skill and knowledge gaps across managerial and field-level teams

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, program heads, and community stakeholders to align learning objectives with the mission, strategic goals, and evolving community priorities

B. Program Design & Delivery

  • Oversee the design and implementation of comprehensive training programs using diverse modalities, including in-person, virtual, and e-learning platforms

  • Ensure all learning content is aligned with SDL (Self-Directed Learning) principles, organizational values, and community-centric practices

C. Facilitation & Coaching

  • Direct the delivery of training sessions for all staff at all levels, focusing on      core competencies such as youth engagement, program design, facilitation, and communication

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to field staff to strengthen their leadership and  field facilitation skills

D. Capacity Building & Succession Planning

  • Develop and implement individualized development plans to promote long-term staff  capacity and professional growth

  • Lead structured succession planning initiatives to identify, cultivate, and  retain high-potential leaders within the organization

E. Monitoring, Evaluation & Improvement

  • Oversee robust evaluation frameworks to measure training effectiveness using performance data, feedback tools, and field assessments

  • Refine learning strategies based on data-driven adjustments to improve future training programs

F. Strategic Planning & Budget Management

  • Budgeting: Lead and manage the L&D budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation for training initiatives

  • Long-Term Planning: Develop long-term strategies for team development across the youth centres

G. Innovation & Technology Integration

  • Technology in Learning: Lead the adoption of new technologies and digital platforms including LMS for training, ensuring smooth functionality and staff access

  • LMS Management: Oversee the implementation and administration of Learning Management Systems (LMS) to streamline training delivery

Expected Area of Expertise

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work / Human Resources / Education or related field (preferred, not mandatory)

  • 8-9  years of experience in people and culture / learning and development, preferably in non-profits or CSOs

  • Experience in building large teams and managing their growth and learning journeys

  • Ability to build learning platforms and opportunities outside the training workshops and envision an ongoing learning journey for teams

  • Adaptability to an agile, cross-functional, collaborative working environment
