ABOUT SAURAMANDALA FOUNDATION - CFAD

Sauramandala Foundation is an NGO founded in 2018 with a vision to bring about systemic change in the lives of remote communities through empathetic, collaborative, and contextual solutions that are co-created with the communities themselves.

About the Project (CM Youth Center)

The Government of Meghalaya, in partnership with Sauramandala Foundation (www.sauramandala.org) and Project DEFY (www.projectdefy.org), has established 22 rural SDL (Self-Design Learning) centres for youth, called the Chief Minister's Youth Center, with an aim to build resilience, sustainability, and problem-solving skills in the next generation of the community.

The key programmes in the CMYCs are:

  • Self Designed Learning

  • Entrepreneurship Development

  • Sports Coaching

  • Arts and Theatre

  • Community Library Programme

The learning is open to all ages to have more involvement from the community.

Key Responsibilities

Objective of the Engagement

  • Develop and implement an integrated communication strategy aligned with organisational goals

  • Strengthen brand identity and storytelling across all programs

  • Expand digital presence and public engagement

  • Enhance donor and partner communication systems

  • Build robust internal and crisis communication frameworks

  • Lead and mentor the communications team across projects

Scope of Work

Communication Strategy & Planning

  • Develop a comprehensive organisational communication strategy aligned with all projects and      initiatives

  • Design detailed brand and  communication guidelines for SMF and its partners

  • Establish communication protocols during onboarding of new partners

  • Identify target audiences and tailor messaging for effective engagement

  • Stay updated on emerging communication trends, tools, and technologies

  • Support donor engagement, documentation, and strategic reporting efforts

Branding & Messaging

  • Develop and maintain a consistent brand identity across all platforms

  • Craft compelling narratives highlighting mission, impact, and success stories

  • Monitor and manage public perception and organisational reputation

  • Ensure messaging alignment across programs and partners

Media Relations & Public Engagement

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive media and influencer network

  • Cultivate relationships with  journalists, media houses, and digital platforms

  • Draft press releases, media kits, and campaign materials

  • Serve as organisational spokesperson when required

  • Develop and manage a Media Library including:

    • Audio-visual materials

    • Organisational profiles

    • Impact documentation

    • Photographic archives

  • Leverage key national and international days for strategic visibility

Content Development & Management

  • Oversee creation of high-quality content for:

    • Website

    • Social media platforms

    • Newsletters

    • Publications

    • Reports

  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar

  • Ensure content accuracy,consistency, and brand alignment

  • Edit and proofread all external communication materials

Digital & Social Media Strategy

  • Design and implement digital communication strategies

  • Expand online visibility and engagement

  • Manage official social media accounts (content creation, scheduling, engagement monitoring)

  • Produce digital content  including:

    • Podcasts

    • Webinars

    • Blogs

    • Video storytelling

  • Develop budgets and timelines  for digital initiatives

  • Analyse performance metrics  and optimize digital strategies

  • Prepare monthly communication plans and performance reports

  • Support partner content requests

  • Design presentations and campaign materials

Crisis Communication

  • Develop and implement crisis  communication protocols

  • Map reputational risks across  programs

  • Act as primary communication lead during crisis situations

  • Provide timely, clear updates  to stakeholders

  • Establish organisation-wide crisis response frameworks

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Lead and mentor Communications Executives across projects

  • Develop monthly communication  plans and performance targets

  • Ensure timely and effective  implementation of communication strategies

  • Identify training and  upskilling needs for the team

  • Ensure adherence to brand and  communication guidelines

  • Stay informed on policy, sectoral trends, and news impacting the organisation

Expected Area of Expertise

  • Master’s Degree in  Communications/PR/Journalism/Development Studies/MBA (Marketing)

  • 7 - 10 Years of experience in the relevant field

  • Experience working in North  East India, preferably Meghalaya

  • Strong reporting and  communication skills across community and government stakeholders

  • Strategic thinking and innovation in communication design

  • Experience in designing  organizational communication strategies; brand and reputation management,      stakeholder engagement planning

  • Ability to manage social media campaigns; digital storytelling and audience engagement, monitoring      analytics and communication impact

  • Cultural sensitivity and  strong understanding of local socio-cultural dynamics

  • Adaptability to an agile, cross-functional, collaborative working environment
