About CM Youth Center:

The Government of Meghalaya, in partnership with Sauramandala Foundation and Project DEFY, has established 22 rural SDL (Self directed learning) centres for youth, called the Chief Minister's Youth Center with an aim to build resilience, sustainability, and problem solving skills in the next generation of the community. The youth centres are also to be established to bridge the digital divide with the

help of innovation and entrepreneurship skills by providing access to the internet along with open learning opportunities. The main features of the centre is a Nook (SDL space), a library and a sports program. The learning is open to all ages to have more involvement from the community.

About the Role:

The Community Engagement Lead is critical in developing and maintaining positive relationships between an organisation and its key stakeholders. This position focuses on understanding community needs, fostering engagement, and implementing initiatives that promote co creation, collaboration and social impact. The community lead will play a pivotal role in organising and coordinating community activities, events, and programs to engage & strengthen the community. The focus will be on creating opportunities for community members to come together, fostering social connections & promoting a sense of belonging. They must work closely with internal teams, community members, stakeholders, and partners to achieve the organisation's mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the qualitative and quantitative M&E system, implement and oversee programme monitoring activities.

  • Develop and strengthen monitoring and evaluation procedures. Monitor data quality track the progress of activities and contribute to staff capacity-building initiatives as necessary.

  • Define key performance indicators to assess the success and impact of the programme(s).

  • Recommend management information systems.

  • Keep abreast of programme/grant changes and progress developments to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase performances and results.

  • Support and guide the programme team to facilitate data collection and its flow.

  • Identify gaps in data collection and management systems and propose relevant solutions.

  • Providing strategic inputs from data collected on strengthening programs and organisation

  • Conduct field visits regularly to monitor progress and data collection.

  • Work with the Chief of Impact at DEFY and SMF team to create relevant standard parameters.

  • Participate and assist in annual programme reviews and in preparing relevant, timely reports.

  • Review donor reports to ensure high-quality reports are submitted timely.

  • Organise and conduct training on M&E for the team.

  • Prepare and maintain the database.

  • Identifying and designing new methods to assess the efficacy of programs and organisation, and provide inputs


  • Experience in engaging with culturally diverse audiences

  • 4+ years of experience in M&E position responsible for design and implementation of M&E activities.

  • Experience in the development sector in North East India with a social work education background.

  • Experience of having worked on the field is desirable.
